What’s an outie?

Friday, November 28th, 2008

I love CJ’s daddy’s research on belly buttons. Yep… people used to tape a coin over an outie belly button, but Dr. Greene says these days we’ve learned to just let them alone. Most go away by the first birthday.

More night terrors

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

A few weeks ago, I wrote about Randy’s daughter, Finley, and her night terrors. Looks like little Julian has the same problem of “confusional arousal.” Julian’s Mommy tried our unproven technique of putting little Julian on the potty during one of his episodes, and it worked! Are we on to something?

Do you dread the terrible twos, too?

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Ethan’s Mom said her little one hasn’t reached the terrible twos… yet. I liked her collection of resources on the subject Dr. Greene calls it “The First Adolescence.”  “Our wonderful children instinctively want to do exactly the opposite of what we want.” It’s a frustrating time for both the parents and the kids, but luckily [...]

Noticing a Little Limp

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

For little Marco’s parents: Yep, I agree… “toxic synovitis” sounds horrible! As we told Connor’s parents earlier this fall, this form of arthritis usually disappears completely within a few days. Sounds like Marco is already feeling better!

Don’t Hold Your Breath!

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Sounds like little Henry and Eleanor keep the Arledge Family busy! The doctor is right about Henry’s habit of holding his breath – it’s really nothing to worry about for most parents. But it’s so scary when he holds it so long that he passes out! As long as you make sure he doesn’t hurt [...]

The Frustrations of Night Terrors

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Randy, I know how helpless you must have felt when your daughter Finley had her first night terrors. Dr. Greene and I definitely went through those long nights with our four children. As many as 15 percent of toddlers and pre-schoolers may experience “confusional arousal,” frequently when they’re overtired and off their sleep schedule.
Luckily an [...]

The Full-Blown Terrible Twos

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Yep, Paige’s meltdown after meltdown are definitely symptoms of the terrible twos. But her temper tantrums are more than likely just a phase and rarely a reason to worry.
Check out Dr. Greene’s Toddler Center for more insight into Paige’s ups and downs during this wonderful period of growth and discovery

Too cute!

John, little Bella is as cute as she can be. Looks like her baby doll Ashley is a favorite!

Thanks for the Kudos!

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

What a nice surprise… The San Francisco Examiner turned the spotlight on Dr. Greene on the paper’s daily Kudos page.
We earned the kudos for our new line of Dr. Greene vitamins — available now from the Vitamin Shoppe, Whole Foods, Wal-Mart and more!

Time for Toilet Training?

Monday, August 18th, 2008

The Ant Hill blog asks “How did you get your child to get beyond their dependency on diapers?”
That’s always a tough question for parents, one that deserved its own Discussion Board!
Dr. Greene put together a list of tips for parents looking to ease the transition from diaper to potty. Here’s a sample:
• Try reading aloud [...]
